Berlin/Heimenkirch/Schongau. Hochland Deutschland GmbH is among “Germany’s best employers 2008”. In the competition of the same name run by the German Great Place to Work Institute, Hochland came 64th from among over 250 participants. Of the companies employing between 500 and 5,000 staff, the cheese manufacturer based in Heimenkirch/Allgäu finished 21st.
The 100 best companies received their awards at a gala in Berlin. Federal Minister of Labour Olaf Scholz handed over the coveted seal of quality. “Trusting relationships between management and staff, committed employees and a lively team spirit” are the key features of the award-winning companies according to the Great Place to Work Institute. Of around 56,000 companies in Germany, 252 companies entered the competition to face up to the strict vote of their own staff. Hochland Deutschland GmbH took part for the first time, immediately making it into the best 100.
The seal of quality “Germany’s Best Employer” is awarded by the Great Place to Work Institute, Germany in collaboration with the research institute psychonomics AG, the Initiative New Quality of Work (INQA), the business magazines Capital and Impulse and Personal-Magazin. Any company in Germany with over 50 employees can enter.
Hochland Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of Hochland AG, has a total staff of around 1,400 at its two sites.
Hochland AG is among the biggest private cheese manufacturers in Europe. The portfolio includes processed cheese, hard cheese and sliced cheese, cream cheese, soft cheese and feta cheese. The company has four of the best-known German cheese brands: Hochland, Almette, Patros and Valbrie.
