The takeover of the brand “Grünländer” and the "Grünland" plant in Kempten by Hochland came into force as planned on January 1st 2009. In mid-November the monopolies commission agreed to the contract concluded by Hochland and the Bechtel Group.

All rights to the brand “Grünländer” and related trade therefore passes to Hochland AG as of the New Year. The production of “Grünländer” remains with Bechtel as before. As part of a supply contract, Bechtel will produce "Grünländer" cheese exclusively for Hochland. Hochland will apply its marketing and sales expertise to expand the brand “Grünländer” both nationally and internationally.
