Some years ago, the EU has created with the "Societas Europaea" a European corporate structure that is based on the German stock corporation law, but offers a better frame for international operating companies as it is mainly handled according to uniform European law.
The Hochland SE is a management and finance holding with different subsidiaries of the international Hochland-group. The German subsidiaries of the Hochland SE are the Hochland Deutschland GmbH, responsible for the German brand trade, the Bonifaz Kohler GmbH, specialized in marketing self-service cheese products for the retail trade’s own brands, and the mechanical engineering company Hochland Natec GmbH.
Moreover, there are subsidiaries in eight countries with ten more production sites.
Hochland is a family-owned business. From the outset in 1927 the company has concentrated exclusively on the production and sales of cheese.
With a workforce of more than 4,300, a sales volume of 280.000 t cheese in the year 2008 and a turnover of roughly 1000 million Euro, Hochland is one of the largest private manufacturers of cheese in Europe.
The product portfolio includes processed cheese, hard and sliced cheese, cream cheese and soft cheese. With Hochland, Almette, Grünländer, Patros and Valbrie five well-known and liked German brands are part of the umbrella trademark of the company.
