The contract between the Hochland SE and the Emmi AG (Bern) was signed in April 2010 and has been approved by end of May by the Swiss antitrust agency (WEKO). So the contract could become effective on 1 July. François Huguenin will be Fromalp's General Manager and will at the same time continue his present function as marketing and sales director.

The Fromalp AG (Zollikofen) was a subsidiary company of the Hochland SE since 2006. The Swiss company  specialises in the production and distribution of typical Swiss cheese products. Fromalp worked out a sales volume of around CHF 100 millions with about 150 employees in 2009. The export ratio is 40 percent. Emmi can use synergies with the integration of the Fromalp-company, gain efficiency and reduce costs. This will give Emmi the possibility to sustain its position in the liberalised cheese-market and increase the sales volume abroad.
